Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 (or 7+ Gen 1?) in the works: What do we know

There’s a new Snapdragon 7 series on the horizon, and the news shouldn’t surprise much either. Roland Quandt has shared on Twitter the first mentions of the Qualcomm SM7475, or what will likely be the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 or Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1. Since the first generation was announced, the San Diego-based company is already focusing on what will represent a mid-range solution. Range for 2023. Qualcomm SM7475. The first Snapdragon 7 series with a tri-cluster design. 1x Prime Core, 3x Gold, 4x Silver. 2.4xx on primary and gold cores, 1.8GHz on silver (under testing) – Roland Quandt (rquandt) Oct 5, 2022 The SM7475 test processor is defined by Quandt as the “first Snapdragon Series 7 with a triple-cluster design”: single core Kryo Prime, 2.4 3 GHz Kryo Gold Core, 2.4 GHz 4 Core Kryo Silver, 1.8 GHz For the first two (Prime and Gold) it can be ARM Cortex-A715 or Cortex-A710, silver can instead be compatible with Cortex-A510. At first glance, there don’t seem to be any major differences with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 in terms of CPU architecture. The first generation was made with a 4nm production process, so the SM7475 will likely adopt the same solution as well. However, it should be borne in mind that production will have to move from Samsung to TSMC.
