Nvidia Introduces New GeForce RTX 3060 8GB and New RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X

Some partners have already talked about it but we can now officially introduce the new versions of the GeForce RTX 3060, faster than ever, very close (on paper) to its older sister RTX 3070. It is expected to reach the market from November Confirmation from NVIDIA itself came after the new drivers were published, which in the changelog indicates their compatibility with the new models in question. Unfortunately, at the moment, the official product page does not enter the new cards, so the details on the characteristics are only partial.

As the same company said, the first is one Faster GeForce RTX 3060 Ti with GDDR6X MemoryCompared with the original version with GDDR6 memory, the new memory brings with it Increase bandwidth to 608 GB/sec. The second is GeForce RTX 3060 with 8GB GDDR6 memory, with bandwidth up to 448GB/s.

The GA104 GPU configuration has not changed and both models still have 4,864 CUDA cores. The GDDR6X update applies only to the type of memory, but the capacity remains the same, i.e. 8 GB on 256 bits.

GeForce RTX 3060 Basic Edition also appeared in one copy New 8GB variant with 128-bit memory bus. The model has identical specifications in terms of clock and TDP, but the bandwidth is limited to 240 GB / s, which is 120 GB / s less than the previous model, and this should affect performance in high-resolution addresses. This card comes with an Ampere GA106 GPU equipped with a 3584 CUDA core.

Galax is one of the first partners to formalize its version, which announced its own version RTX 3060 Ti Plus with 8GB GDDR6X Memory. The company provided a performance preview compared to the RTX 3070 with 8GB GDDR6 memory. It’s a battle between the RTX 3070’s 5888 CUDA cores and the 4864 RTX 3060 Ti cores, but also between 448 GB/s and 608 GB/s of bandwidth, in this case superior to the 3060 Ti.

The comparison lacks specifics and is more prone to take 3 games with random scenes that are not compatible with each other. However, we can see that the RTX 3060 Ti G6X often displays a higher frame rate than the RTX 3070 in similar scenes, such as those in Spider-Man Remastered and Cyberpunk 2077.

As we mentioned at the beginning, Nvidia hasn’t updated its page and store yet, so we’ll have to wait a little longer for official feedback, detailed field tests, and anything else that allows us to get a serious performance profile on our hands. We’ll talk about it in the coming weeks.
